Pam Edwards - Profile

Pam Edwards was awarded her MMus and BMus from The Royal Academy of Music, London. Pam gained an Exhibition to study piano at the RAM and during her degree years she studied with Frank Wibaut, Dr Arthur Wills and Dr. Malcolm Hill. She participated in numerous master classes with eminent and leading professors of piano including Chris Elton, David Owen-Norris, Paul Berkowitz, Hamish Milne and Ian Hobson. Pam was awarded her LRAM for performance and teaching and won the Vivian Langrish Memorial Prize for her Degree recital.

Pam continued her MMUS and Postgraduate Studies at the RAM with a Leverhulme Post Graduate Scholarship, specialising in Early Performance, Editing and Harpsichord - studying with the harpsichord virtuoso Virginia Black. During her MMus year, Pam gave many solo performances and participated in numerous Early Music Festivals and competitions, both as soloist and continuo player for instrumentalists and singers.

Pam regularly participated in Masterclasses with Chris Hogwood and Kenneth Gilbert. She won the Intercollegiate Harpsichord Competition and was awarded the Raymond Russell Prize, gaining a Distinction for her MMus recital. The following year Pam was awarded the Post Graduate Diploma in Performance and she was asked to participate as Harpsichord Soloist in the London Bach Festival. Pam represented Great Britain in the First International Harpsichord Competition in Warsaw.

During her Post Graduate Years Pam was the official accompanist for Masterclasses of oboe, flute, bassoon, violin, 'cello, trombone and singing - as well as being official accompanist for students of Chris Ball and Peter Holstslag at the Junior RAM. Pam worked professionally as Soloist and Continuo player and was the resident harpsichordist of the Belmont Ensemble of London for several years - performing regularly at the Academy-Of-St-Martin-In-The-Fields and including performances at The Purcell Room, RFH.

Pam is an experienced and passionate teacher of piano and has tutored and coached Chamber Music at The Junior Academy and taught privately for many years. Pam also teaches violin, flute, singing and music theatre, and music theory - to all levels. Pam's holistic approach has made her a sought after coach and pianist on Summer Music Courses, including The Lake District Summer Music Course in Ambleside for ten years. Pam lectured in A Level Music and Music Technology at Alton College, and she taught music alongside Paul Shepherd at Amery Hill School for seven years, teaching GCSE and coaching many extra-curricular activities.

Pam lives in Hampshire with Mike and Lyra, and her two cats Nancy and Eliza.
